Title: VP, Business Development An award-winning boutique digital design agency based in San Francisco is searching for a VP of Business Development (VP of BD). They are not looking for just any sales person but one who is passionate about helping clients solve business problems in an innovative way.
Ideally, the VP of BD will have experience selling complex UX engagements across multiple industries such as Financial Services, Technology, Healthcare and Clean Energy. The client roster spans both B2B and B2C brands. This role is critical to the agency to maintain their rapid expansion. The VP of BD will report directly to the CEO. The ideal candidate will be a natural ‘hunter’ looking to bring new relationships to the agency as well as cultivate existing relationships. Most importantly, he or she will be able to articulate the firm’s story and the value it brings to every engagement and will be adept at matching those to the needs of key decision makers with prospective clients.
The VP of BD will be responsible for qualifying inbound leads as well as proactively identifying targeted key client opportunities to pursue from acquisition to pitch and procurement. He or she will take responsibility for formulating high-level client solutions with an approach to scope and deliverables—all backed by a smart and talented team.
Responsibilities: • Set direction and approach to ongoing sales activities—both inbound lead generation and proactive acquisition targeting
• Qualify, vet and follow-through on new opportunities from lead to signed contract
• Network and build strong prospective client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for key decision makers
• Mobilize the right internal team to support the proposal and pitch process and ensure they are briefed and organized to address the needs of new clients through proper strategic approach, scoping and estimating
• Develop well-crafted pitch platforms, proposals and SOWs that inspire, influence and convert
• Tell the firm’s story in a compelling, mission-driven manner and represent the agency at industry and marketing events
Requirements: • Minimum of 10 years experience growing business within a digital, integrated or traditional agency environment; previous consulting experience highly desired
• B.A. or B.S. degree; MBA a plus
• Proven experience closing multi-year client engagements of $1M+
• Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and tactical levels
• Background developing and implementing sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives
• Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills
• Highly organized with strong communication and presentation skills
